Once it finally arrives, whenever that is (probably 2023) it'll go in for pickup replacement and a setup and I expect to fall back in love with it. I've never been crazy about the stock bridge pickup (SD Full Shred) which is extremely bright and thin, in a guitar with a fairly bright wood combination, so I ordered a Dimarzio Fortitude to replace it. Has fret sprout and needs attention from a real tech. So get that, play it for a couple years, and unfortunately the maple neck has finally succumbed to the extreme dryness of our climate. The Mexican Charvels, imo, stomp all over everything else at this price point and are one of the best deals going in guitars today. because there are a lot of companies that are very happy to sell you terrible Indonesian or Chinese guitars for the same money or more, such as Charvel's sister brand. Or at least, that's how I think it should be. Right at the 'sweet spot' price point where the guitar is expensive enough it comes with all real hardware and the necks have enough care and attention put into them that they usually only need mild setup work. I've played about ten of em now and only one has been bad.
I picked up a matte blue frost Made in Mexico Charvel a couple years ago after playing a couple MIMs in the store, just prior to the covidpocalypse. I haven't posted a new guitar day thread in about 10 years from the looks of it so why not
